Knowledge-based verification
Knowledge-based verification (KBV) is a method used during customer registration to confirm identity by asking questions only the true account holder should be able to answer. This approach helps ensure that the person creating the account is who they claim to be, without requiring a physical document or biometric input.
Strivacity works with third-party identity verification providers to generate personalized questions based on customer-supplied data, such as name, address, and date of birth. The customer must correctly answer these questions to continue with the registration process.

Knowledge-based verification
Features
- Configurable attribute mapping:
Choose which identity attributes to send to the credit bureau to generate personalized KBV questions. Available fields include given name, family name, street address, city, region, postal code, country code, phone number, and date of birth. - Support for multiple questions:
The customer is presented with a set of multiple-choice questions, typically three to five, based on their financial or historical data. The number of questions and the thresholds for passing are set during your vendor onboarding. - Customizable failure and success actions:
Define what happens after the verification process completes. If successful, you can route the customer to the next step in the verification flow or exit. If failed, you can redirect them, trigger a custom message, or exit the verification flow.
